Beware of Matilda Jane Clothing- Review

Matilda Jane Clothing is ending its multi-level marketing (MLM) business.

Affiliates were told about the news yesterday through an email.

Matilda Jane Clothing’s posts on social media make it seem like the decision to close was a surprise.

BehindMLM hasn’t seen a copy of the email, but WPTA21 says;

The email said that as of Wednesday at 5 p.m., the company would stop working with trunk keepers and close up shop.

The CEO of Matilda Jane said that the company has been having financial problems. Leaders had been trying to sell almost all of the company’s assets to keep jobs and the business going, but the sale fell through.

Matilda Jane Clothing is an MLM company that sells clothes, as you might guess from the name. In 2005, the company was started in Indiana.

Strangely, Matilda Jane Clothing’s website doesn’t say who runs the company or who owns it.

Donna Noce Colaco lists herself on LinkedIn as the company’s CEO and Executive Chairman.

Matilda Jane Clothing has its own LinkedIn page, which says that the company was started by Denise DeMarchis.

Denise DeMarchis is the designer and founder of Matilda Jane Clothing. She started the company for girls’ clothes in 2005.

Denise is the mother of two good boys and a successful decorative artist. In her new business, a “unpredictable clothing company,” she used her unique, soulful approach to creativity and relationships.

In 2012, DeMarchis sold Matilda Jane to CID Capital. Webster Capital bought the company from CID Capital in 2017.

After doing well at art fairs in the Midwest at first, Matilda Jane Clothing switched to a direct sales model called “Trunk Keeper.” This model keeps the spirit of art fairs alive while building personal relationships all over the country.

Matilda Jane Clothing calls the people who sell their clothes “Trunk Keepers.” As a guy who thinks of “trunks” as a mix of boxer briefs and briefs, I find this… funny.

BehindMLM does its best to review as many MLM companies as it can, but Matilda Jane Clothing got missed. Matilda Jane’s compensation plan isn’t explained on its website, so I can’t say anything about it other than that it’s based on a party plan.

On its LinkedIn page, Matilda Jane Clothing says it has between 51 and 200 employees.

SimilarWeb saw that the number of people visiting Matilda Jane Clothing’s website has been going down steadily over the past three months. The number of estimated visits in November was 98,000, down from 136,000 in September.
